Job Vacancy - Field Engineer (Agility)

Agility is a new breed of Computerised Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) designed to give users up-to-the minute information about assets, work orders and planned schedules.
 
This role involves working with users and customer IT departments to ensure the package is deployed in a way that enables them to get the most out of the software. In most cases this involves a site visit, where you will be expected to install and configure the package, resolve technical issues, present training course materials and provide implementation advice.
 
While this is not primarily a sales role, all customer-facing staff in SoftSols are expected to look for opportunities for further sales of software and related services. In time, staff in this role could be expected to take on increasing Account Management responsibility.
 
From time to time you may also be asked to assist with other tasks such as pre-sales investigations, training, helpdesk support and the investigation and resolution of software problems.
 
Candidates will normally be educated to degree level and have a good understanding of Microsoft Windows applications. Knowledge of SQL Server would be an advantage. A desire and ability to communicate with non-technical users is essential.
 
Candidates must be prepared to travel to sites throughout the UK (and occasionally abroad), often involving overnight stays. A full UK driving license is essential.

Day to day responsibilities

  • Involvement in system installation, implementation and training for end-users and business partners
  • Installation and maintenance of Microsoft SQL system databases, including backup, disaster recovery, and performance monitoring
  • System customization using our uniquely flexible configuration tools
  • Design and develop reports using SQL Server Reporting Services, based on the requirements received from users;
  • Planning and implementation of interfaces to third party systems using our integration tools;
  • Diagnosis and resolution of problems identified by users via Help Desk technical support;

Skills Required

  • Knowledge of computerised maintenance management software (CMMS) or ERP software implementation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL reporting services or similar report writing tools
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • Team player
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
